Eaton Socon 1, Rushden + Higham United 1
12th August 2023 :: Spartan South Midlands Division One
Eaton came away with their third draw in three games and again frustrated but ultimately again it was a fair result.
Eaton had a few key players missing and started the game well and the forward line of Sagwete and Jolly were linking up well and causing the Rushden defence problems. The prolonged pressure eventually paid off when the ball fell kindly for Whittingham and his cool finish put Eaton 1-0 up. Eaton continued to create chances but couldn’t double their lead.
In the second half Rushden came out a different team and bought the game to Eaton. The defence of Smith, Francis and Newman stood firm but were eventually beaten with a well taken shot from outside of the area.
Rushden continued to press for the winner but couldn’t get the second goal.
Overall again a fair point and Eaton still remain unbeaten.
No midweek fixture this week. Eatons next fixture is away to Long Buckby on Saturday.
