Fulbourn Institute 2, Eaton Socon 2
9th April 2016 :: Cambs FA County League Kershaw Premier
A goal in the 93rd minute broke Eaton's hearts as they came away with a point away to second placed Fulbourn. This result really only helped champions elect Great Shelford as they surged 6 points clear at the top. However this was a cracking game of football and a draw was probably a fair result.. The first ten minutes was cagey with Fulbourn trying to hit Eaton with pace and width but Eaton have their own wing twins and neither side were getting any profit from that tactic. On 26 minutes Eaton took the lead. A great move between Kay and Kingsbury saw Kingsbury cleverly beat the defender and smashed the ball in from a tight angle. You however are never more vulnerable than when you have just scored, and Shipp nearly equalised but Wale in the Eaton goal made a world class save to keep his header out.
Eaton led at half time and did so until the 53rd minute when a free kick was put in the mix. Three Eaton players went for it and neither really got there. The ball fell in the six yard area and was duly despatched to level the game. Eaton knew it wasn't time to give up and within ten minutes took the lead again when a corner from Scott Kingsbury evaded everyone and crossed the line. Eaton were ahead and just had to hold on. Which they did till injury time when a long throw saw a Fulbourn player get in front of the Eaton front post wall and Shipp equalised. Hard to take as Eaton had worked hard but still top four and a trip to fifth placed Wisbech St Mary is a must win if Eaton want to finish top four.
