Eaton Socon 1, Gamlingay United 1

9th September 2017 :: Cambs FA County League Kershaw Premier

Eaton and Gamlingay took a share of the spoils when they drew 1-1 at the MGS. This was a typical local derby with both sides giving everything in a blood and thunder affair. Eaton started well with plenty of possession, however they only had one real chance of note when Bassetts long range effort went over the bar.. Eaton though did take the lead on 18 minutes when a good move saw Bassett get behind the Gamlingay defence and he squared the ball to Thorpe who scored from close range. Gamlingay battled hard and on 37 minutes scored a special equaliser when a Gamlingay player hit a speculative shot from 35 yards and it sailed into the net.

Sll square at the break and again Eaton started fast but were unable to break down the Gamlingay defence. Eaton had four or five chances but could not get past the excellent Cowell in the Gamlingay goal. This included a great double save from Thorpe. So Eaton dropped two big points but it was a fair result and a good game.
