Eagles celebrate Griffmas early!
A Lee Griffiths hat trick in horrendous conditions helped Eaton to a 6-0 win in their second derby in 7 days. The first half saw Eaton control possession and after missing a couple of chances it was Ben Cole who took responsibility for giving Eaton the lead after 28 minutes with a neat finish. Eaton used the advantage to introduce Jack Hart, Callan Irvine and Ryan Whittingham into the game before the break.
St Neots started the second half the brighter of the two sides as the rain and wind battered the Mick George Stadium. Eaton’s second goal on the hour was from the impressive Dom Mason when he looked up and curled an effort from the edge of the left side of the box, across the keeper and into the top corner of the St Neots net leaving the home keeper with no chance. Enter Lee Griffiths who scored his first and Eaton’s third after 75 minutes and then 5 minutes later scored an audacious lob after sitting the home keeper down to challenge Dom’s earlier strike for the afternoon’s top effort. Further good work on the left from Griffiths saw him cross for Blake Rivers to open his account for the day on 85 minutes before Griffiths completed his hat trick on 88 minutes and an excellent afternoon for the Eagles at the expense of our neighbours from St Neots.
A clean sheet for the defence excellently marshalled by Kaine Baxter and Ash Howard, deputised by Jack Hart was another highlight of the afternoon with Lewis Davis in front of the back four again providing added security in a midfield that dominated all afternoon. Next Saturday the Eagles host Comberton before closing the year out against CUP on the 29th at the MGS.
