Wisbech St Mary Res 5, Eaton Socon res. 6
20th August 2019 :: Kershaw Senior B
Eaton started quickly and spurned a chance 2 mins in when Ollie Vale missed with only the keeper to beat. Wisbech who played well throughout the game, took the lead through some great wing play, as he beat 2 men and coolly finished. Ollie Vale made it 1-1 2 mins later scoring from 18 yards. Wisbech were then awarded a penalty by the referee from the centre circle. This was subsequently saved, but Wisbech were quicker to the rebound. 2-1. Joe Jordon equalised on 30 mins with a 30 yard pile driver. 2-2. A free kick 20 yards out, found the net off two posts, again Wisbech quickest to react to make it 3-2 Wisbech at half time.
Eaton started the 2nd half with more purpose and equalised through the impressive Ollie Vale. 3-3. Wisbech regained the lead, through there impressive centre forward, before George Pyke pulled one back, from close range on his debut. Lee Griffiths ran clear and scooped the ball over the advancing Wisbech keeper to make it 5-4 Eaton. Griffiths then squared the ball to Joe Jordon with 10 minutes to go to make it 6-4. Wisbech scored with 5 minutes to go with an acrobatic effort that nestled in the top corner.
Eaton held firm to claim all 3 points. Which made the long drive home a little easier.
