Eaton Socon 1, Eynesbury United 2

23rd November 2019 :: Hunts Intermediate Cup

Eynesbury won the local derby and progressed through to the semi-finals of the cup after edging out Eaton in a scrappy game at River Road.

The first half lacked quality until the evergreen Dean Parratt finished brilliantly from the edge of the box after Eaton failed to clear their lines.  Eynesbury went in 1-0 up at half time.

The second half started with Eaton trying to find a way back into the game but Eynesbury extended their lead after another mistake from Eaton which ended up with Bassett scoring  from close range. Eaton responded 10 minutes later when Rhys Thorpe fired home from a corner to keep the game alive. The introduction of Coles and Whittingham improved Eaton and the latter tested the away keeper who pushed away his low drive. Eaton pushed Eynesbury back without causing them too many problems and the away team saw the game out to progress through.

Eaton were not at the races and Eynesbury deservedly progressed through to the last four.
