Eaton Socon res. 4, Cambridge University Press Res. 0

7th December 2019 :: Kershaw Senior B

Eaton secured there second win in as many weeks. Couple that with a second clean sheet on the trot, and things are looking up for the Eagles.

Callan Irvine opened the scoring on 20 minutes, after good work from Hall and Roberts, Irvine still had plenty to do. He did it well beating two men, before curling the ball with pace into the bottom right hand corner. Eaton continued to press, and were rewarded just before half time. Roberts laid the ball to Tom Hall who cut back, and unleashed a shot which was too hot for the CUP keeper to hold, as it fumbled over the line.
Half time 2-0

CUP came out for the second half with renewed interest and were much the better side for 25 minutes. The back line of Kidd, Woodend and Howard stood firm, backed up as ever by White, in the Eaton goal.

Eaton killed the game off with 20 minutes to go with a superb strike from the lesser known Coles. With the outside of his boot, Andy hit the ball on the volley, with such pace the keeper didn’t get near the ball, which powered straight through the middle of the goal, from 25 yards.

There was time for another as Dawkes collected the ball from Flack, backheeled to Coles(A) who sent over a pinpoint cross to Pyke who controlled for Heaps who deservedly scored the 4th from 6 yards out.

The only consolation for CUP came in the bar afterwards as they heard their 1st team had won against Eynesbury.
