Eaton Socon 3, Fulbourn Institute 1
4th January 2020 :: Cambs FA County League Kershaw Premier
Eaton ground out a win against a well organised and hard working Fulbourn side to take all 3 points at River Rd
If pointless passing between the defenders and goalkeeper, lack of effort and poor quality all round was what won you points then Eaton would’ve romped this game in the first half with no issues what so ever! Unfortunately that’s not the case and Fulbourne out worked and fought Eaton for 40 minutes and took the lead after half an hour following some poor defending. Ben Cole equalised for Eaton just before half time as he tapped home from close range which sparked them into life. Another Cole effort was ruled out for offside following a lovely move between McGowan, Cole and Thorpe. 1-1 at half time.
After a few choice words at the break, Eaton came out a different side in the second half with Brad Brown impressing in midfield . Chances came and went but a Thorpe free kick trickled in to give the home side a deserved lead on 70 minutes and he doubled his tally for the day finishing expertly into the far corner to make it 3-1 five minutes later. The last 15 minutes saw Eaton start a competition of ‘who could kick the match ball over the fence furthest when they should be scoring’ competition meaning they failed to add to the scoreline, but in the end another 3 points in the bag and a good second half performance.
MOM went to 17 year old Brad Brown impressing on his first start for the club. Started the day working at Tesco and finished it with a well earned free drink after the game. Every little helps 👀
