Eaton Socon 7, Chatteris Town 0
22nd February 2020 :: Cambs FA County League Kershaw Premier
Eaton bounced back from last weekends defeat to fire 7 past a young Chatteris side in a one sided game at River Road.
Cal Irvine was called into the first team squad after last weekends heroics and started on the bench as his mind set wasn’t right after losing his Chef. He had to be weighed down with sand bags in the dug out so he didn’t blow away in the blustery conditions as well. Eaton raced into a 3 goal lead in the first half and completely dominated their opponents. Rhys Thorpe chased down a lost cause before he finished neatly to open the scoring and then came goal of the game for the second. A good Eaton move down the right found Alderson on the right wing and his brilliant cross was superbly headed home into the top corner by the impressive Cam Stump. It was stump who added the third too, Thorpe chased down another loose ball before laying it off to Stump to curl home from 20 yards with another great finish!
The Second half was more of the same and a case of how many Eaton wanted. Alderson finished well after dancing through and Thorpe added his second before the ‘Ben’s’ took over. Hickling added a 6th , whipping an effort into the far corner before Cole finished from close range fur number 7. Brad Brown and Tom McGowan had a combined 328 attempts at goal in the game but didn’t come close to scoring but both impressed apart from their shooting.
Plenty of goals and a clean sheet which was only ever threatened when Milky Wale in the Eaton goal thought the ball had turned into a hot potato and decided to start his own juggling act in the process. Brad Brown to the rescue with a last ditch tackle to save Milky’s blushes.
Good performances all round including youngster Dan Olive at Right back and Rhys Thorpe up front, who was involved in 5 of the 7 goals today but as he gets enough plaudits from, well, himself. MOM went to captain Darren Woodend who was superb at the back starting many of the good things Eaton did on the day.
