Eaton Socon res. 2, Isleham United 1

8th February 2020 :: Kershaw Senior B

Jake Alderson opened the scoring against a big physical Isleham side, latching on to a defensive mistake to round the keeper and fire home. With 30 minutes on the clock in an evenly contested 1st half, Isleham equalised. A cheap free kick given away, was converted at the back post with a touch of the handballs about it.

Appeals denied 1-1.

Eaton could have been behind just before half time, but for the heroics of Brad Brown tackling/clearing off the line.

Alderson was lucky not to be injured after being shoved into the perimeter railings, although Isleham had time to complain about every Kirk Kidd tackle.

Half time and Eaton continued to rotate the squad. With Hall, Blackall and Roberts, starting the 2nd half.

Onto the 2nd half, and it was barely underway, when Alderson capitalised on another defensive slip straight from kick off to regain the lead.

Isleham had chances, but were met by White in inspired form. Isleham upped the tempo, and decided a physical presence was necessary, after a few 50/50 tackles, a 17 man shoving exercise entailed, which resulted in the Isleham manager left on the floor. I Believe the had taken a dive after hearing Jonny Haynes had been to Millwall the previous week.( just rumours.) This was a day though that the Eaglets became Eagles in a fantastic battle at river road. Youngsters Brad Brown (17) George Pyke(18), Dan Olive(16) Callan Irvine(18) Josh Roberts(20) were immense in this close fought victory.

Kirk Kidd had his best game of the season, winning everything at the back, but was edged out for the MOM award by Brad Brown who was literally everywhere. (Including the dug out) after being sin binned for the remaining 10 minutes of the game.

Like a young Warren Brown, only quicker and with more about him.
