Eaton Socon A 2, Abington United 1
1st February 2020 :: Cambs FA County League MPG 3A
Eaton knew it would be a hard game against a well drilled abbington team. The pitch was soft, heavy and bobbly, so in tip top condition. The first half was closely contested and Eaton got the break through goal about 10 mins before half time from a long throw into the 6 yard box from dexter, which found a helpful defender who flicked it on into the far corner of the goal.
Second half and Eaton were against the wind and finally began to play some football. Eaton second goal came down the right hand side with some neat play between the two josh's and a nice cross from hus found ward in the six yard box who adjusted his feet nicely and found the bottom left corner of the goal. With 15 minutes to go abbington pulled a goal back from a corner in which Tommy Collins believed he was fouled the ref disagreed and sin binned him for his troubles. The last 10 minutes were all hands on deck and Eatons resolve was broken with a minute to go when abbington were given a penalty when the young striker fell over Tai's leg, up stepped abbingtons centreforward talisman expecting the game to finish 2-2 but Eaton Socon young keeper Kyran had other ideas and pulled off a great save to his right. Scenes!! Eaton cleared the ball and the ref blew the whistle.
Eaton rode their luck and deserved the 3 points in what was a very tough game, Eaton showed great character and work rate, and would have been hard to pick an mom as so many players did so well. But it has to go to kyran harness for his last minute penalty save. Next week we play league leaders Harston at home.
