Bassingbourn 2, Eaton Socon res. 3

12th September 2020 :: Kershaw Senior A

After last weeks disappointing result, Eaton won an evenly contested game, against the team that won the Senior B  league title last season.

Eaton started the better side, and a superb team goal involving Cole, Moore, Irvine and Roberts was duly converted by Lee Griffiths.  Bassingbourne played the percentage game, and got a goal back 15 minutes before half time.

A scrambled effort from Irvine just before the break saw the impressive Irvine score his second goal of the season, with a left foot scuff into the corner. Half time 2-1

Bassingbourne came out with a fresh impetus in the second half, and equalised after a 15 minutes, with a great run and shot, that beat White from 25 yards out.

Both sides had chances to get the win, but it was Ben Cole who was the difference between the two sides, as he turned his man for the umpteenth time in the game and slotted into the side netting for the 3 points and duly snatched the man of the match award, from the grasp of Josh Kane who was exceptional in defence.

On to next week. Soham at home.
