Gamlingay United 0, Eaton Socon 5

17th August 2021 :: Cambs FA County League Kershaw Premier

Patience is a virtue, virtue is a grace. Rhys Thorpe missed five chances, But then notched a brace!

Eaton bossed the game from start to finish and the scoreline could have been bigger with a bit more composure in front of goal. After missing a number of chances Eaton finally broke down the stubborn Gamlingay defence when Rhys Thorpe finished from close range. 0-1. One became two soon after when Thorpe fired home an unstoppable free kick into the top corner from 25 yards out to give Eaton a deserved 0-2 lead at half time.

The second half was more of the same and Eaton got the third in style. Ryan Whittingham burst forward from full back and got on the end of a pass into the box. The first touch was slightly behind Whittingham but great improvisation and ability saw him flick the ball up for himself to score an unbelievable overhead kick into the top corner 0-3! The 4th soon followed when Darren Woodend scuffed home from close range after the ball fell to him in the box following a set piece. 0-4. And still time for one more and this time Cal Irvine got on the scoresheet. Fresh from his luxury holiday in Blackpool and Glasgow, Spider-Man found himself in the right place to nod home from close range after more good work from Jake Alderson.

A very good performance from everyone involved again and Eaton now host Fulbourn at home on Saturday looking to make it 3 wins on the bounce.
MOM this week went to Tom Roberts who performed brilliantly in midfield
